Week 26 in Berlin: JUN 23-29
Social Butterfly Club, Repair Café, Clowning, Knitting, Festivals, 48 Hours Neukölln, Kreuzberg Festival, Long Night of Sciences
Hello my dear social butterflies! 🦋
Last Friday, a friend spontaneously asked me if I wanted to join Sean Paul’s after show party. Could I say no? A few hours later, I found myself in the second row, face-to-face with a global superstar — sweaty, ecstatic, and still not quite sure how I got there.
And that was just the beginning of the weekend! The city exploded with music on Friday for Fête de la Musique — a celebration of sound, spontaneity, and summer spirit. Where did you end up dancing? In a sunlit courtyard? In front of a punk band on the street? I hope your feet are still recovering.
As for next weekend? You’d think Berlin’s event organizers had gone completely mad: 48h Neukölln and the Kreuzberg Festival happening at the exact same time? And as if that weren’t enough, the Long Night of Science joins the chaos, too.
So even after the Fête de la Musique, the FOMO refuses to die down. I did my best to balance the loud and the quiet, the weird and the wonderful — and I hope this week’s list reflects just that.
Lots of love, Julia 💙

🦋 We’ve reached 50 members!
What started with just a handful of curious souls has now grown into a buzzing group of 50 founding flutterers. Thank you for being part of this journey — and if you haven’t joined yet, now’s the perfect time to become part of our growing community.
🎉 3 Years of Social Butterfly Radar – Save the Date!
Mark your calendars for August 14: our community turns 3 years old! We’re already dreaming up a celebration worthy of our wild and wonderful Berlin adventure — details to come soon, but trust us, it’s going to be festive.
🚀 Official Launch Coming in August
It’s getting real: I’m planning the official Club launch for August! From that point forward, we’ll introduce new Meetup formats and roll out even more ways to connect. Expect a whole new level of fun, structure, and surprise (including pirates) — all starting in September.
🦋 What is the Social Butterfly Club
The Social Butterfly Club is a Berlin-based community for people who want to explore the city — and meet others while doing it.
It’s for the curious, the kind, the shy-but-trying, the socially tired, the socially excited, the “I just moved here,” and the “I’ve been here forever but want something new.”
We meet online and offline to share tips, attend events together, and build small, meaningful connections.
No pressure. No posing. No awkward networking games.
Just real people, real city, real life.

Laughter in the garden - clowning and improvisation theatre
📅 Tuesday, JUN 24
🕰️ 6pm
📍 Silent Rixdorf, Wanzlikpfad 3, 12043 Berlin (Maps)
🎟️ Donations Welcome
Laughter is more than just a beautiful moment - it is a powerful resource for body, mind and soul.
In the midst of the green oasis of the Silent Rixdorf Garden, clown Mary Love invites you to let go of everyday life for two hours and indulge in liberating laughter. With a lot of heart, humour and a pinch of improvisation, Mary Love leads us through a lively programme that combines elements of clowning, improvisational theatre and mindful bodywork.
It's not about ‘being funny’, but about meeting yourself with a loving wink, embracing the absurdities of life and creating an atmosphere of lightness together.
Participants can expect a workshop that is as playful as it is profound, in which no one has to perform - but everyone can try it out. Whether silly, poetic or silent - every form of expression is welcome.
Mary Love creates a safe space in which laughter becomes a unifying experience. The workshop takes place outdoors in the idyllic Silent Rixdorf Garten in Berlin-Neukölln.
There is no need to book in advance, just turn up - and please remember to wear comfortable clothes!
💁♀️ This girl loves clowning - and laughter. I hope you do, too.

KONTAKTE 2025 - Festival für Elektroakustische Musik und Klangkunst
📅 Thursday-Sunday, JUN 26-29
🕰️ Afternoon-Evening
📍 Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg (Maps) & Pariser Platz (Maps)
🎟️ FREE
In June, the Studio for Electroacoustic Music at the Akademie der Künste once again invites you to KONTAKTE. The festival shows how versatile contemporary sound art reacts to current technological and social developments.
The Academy buildings on Hanseatenweg and Pariser Platz will be permeated by experimental sound structures and transformed into places of intensive (listening) experience.
Installative sound works, impressive performances and electro-acoustic concerts combine to create a multi-layered and interdisciplinary programme with, among others, the Ensemble Ascolta, the GrauSchumacher Piano Duo, Thomas Schulz and Hanna Hartman as well as new works by Arezou Rezaei, Tony Elieh, Hainbach, Annette Krebs, Heather Frasch, Gerriet K. Sharma, Susanne Fröhlich - and probably the most extensive loudspeaker orchestra in the world to date.
💁♀️ This is something fancy. But I’m afraid it will get outshone by the following two festivals.

Long Night of Sciences
📅 Saturday, JUN 28
🕰️ 5pm-midnight
📍 Across the city
🎟️ 5€
The Long Night of Science will take place on 28 June 2025. From 5 pm to midnight, around 50 scientific and science-related institutions in Berlin will once again be hosting spectacular experiments, exciting lectures, science shows and laboratory tours, giving visitors the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes.
The events are spread across a total of five city areas - from the west to the centre to Buch, via the south-west to the south-east. As always, the LNDW programme is aimed at all age groups and offers special programme items for schoolchildren.
The Long Night of the Sciences is largely organized and financed by the participating scientific institutions themselves. It is also supported by numerous partners from the region, in particular Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH and Technologiestiftung Berlin.
